Historical Happenings at Palm Springs Air Museum

June 24, 2021 By Gayle Pietras

Finally, Coachella Valley is back in business!  For vaccinated people, masks are not required in the majority of places, which is just in time as the desert has heated up with triple digit weather.  Now that the valley can be explored again, where to start?  Check out the Historical Happenings at Palm Springs Air Museum!  The museum is celebrating its 25th anniversary!

The Palm Springs Air Museum is a local treasure with beautifully restored aircraft that demonstrates the role air power played in preserving American liberties and our way of life.  In addition to aircraft, there are displays that give you an up close and personal look at the people behind the artifacts highlighting how they served our country and contributed to the nation.  The Palm Springs Air Museum is chalk full of personal stories of men and women who made a difference.  Many of the docents are veterans who are willing to share their experiences and sacrifices.

The Palm Springs Air Museum includes four hangers full of aircraft and other exhibits across 70,000 square feet of space.  Aircraft includes Grumman F4F Wildcat, FA-18 Hornet, Bell AH-1 Huey Cobra Helicopter, Supermarine Spitfire Mark XIV, to mention only a few.  The museum and its exhibits continue to grow in size.  A fifth hanger is currently under construction and aircraft are being restored adding to the ever-growing list of interesting things to see and experience. You can also book rides on some of the warplanes!!  It doesn’t get better than the Historical Happenings at Palm Springs Air Museum.

We visited the air museum on Memorial Day and it was very heartwarming honoring our veterans.  There is so much to do in the desert, and it is a great place to live.  If you need information about real estate in the Coachella Valley, please let me know.  I was a 2021 Top Realtor, in the top 2%!
